If I had to pick one, I would say understanding the mechanism is more important than simply memorizing facts for BPT exams. Once I understand how and why something works, it becomes easier to remember the related facts and apply them in practical or clinical situations. Memorization is still useful for important terms, values, and classifications, but a strong understanding makes learning more meaningful and long-lasting.
