TET exams are important for teachers because they check whether a candidate has the basic knowledge, teaching skills, and understanding of child development needed for effective teaching. For many government and government-aided school teaching jobs, qualifying TET is an eligibility requirement. It also helps maintain a standard of teaching quality in schools.

It is important to check whether the teacher can teach that particular subject or not.
